Didactics
 

International Campus Venlo orientates on all fields of modern didactical principles. We focus less on studying of separate subjects, but far more on achieving professional competences, which form the core of our study and learning processes.

Our study course is therefore based on five important pillars:
• The practical orientation (e.g. work placements, working on certain projects for an enterprise)
• The theory (facts and knowledge)
• The skills (by workshops, training etc.)
• The integration (by covering projects)
• These activities are supported by professional study career management.
 

Feel at home!
 

The first week of the first study year is intended as an introduction week for new students. In this week you get to know your fellow students, professors and the surrounding area. Each study course represents a Learning Community. You know your fellow students and your professors - and they know you! Decisions concerning your study career do not have to be made alone. Each student will be accompanied by a study career supervisor with which you will stay in regular contact. Similar to the American tutoring system this supervisor is your contact person. He or she keeps track of your achievements, gives you advice and supports you concerning your individual study progress, general or personal problems as well as he tutors you during your practical training. In Venlo we have an open door policy. Our staff rooms are not located in ivory towers but are always open for you.


Quality is our Formula
 

To ensure the quality standards of the Dutch educational system every Dutch university regularly must undergo a thorough quality assurance by an accreditation commission in order to continue its accreditation.

Fontys attaches great importance to the quality of its education. The education is therefore subject to several internal and external quality assurance systems. The university itself has two quality systems. On the one hand, structure and content of the study courses are monitored by a board of external economic experts to ensure that the education meets all the requirements of the economy. Another team of experts reviews the examination process.

On the other hand, our internal quality system continuously monitors the execution of individual subjects by student interviews. Regularly, also former students (alumni) are asked if their education prepared them optimally for the demands of working life.

Fontys University of Applied Sciences is recognised and partly funded by the Dutch authorities. All Fontys degree programmes are accredited by the Dutch-Flemish Accreditation Organisation (NVAO) or equivalent British accreditation bodies. The value of the degrees Fontys awards is guaranteed.
